Being an Elder Dragon is more than just running some games! They participate in the leadership of Young Dragons playing a major role in our monthly operations meetings, our "Tribunals". These meetings are mandatory for Elder Dragons. Tribunals are where the Elders help to decide on our seasonal themes, monthly offerings, and budget allocation. Throughout these meetings and others Elders learn valuable life skills beyond just Dungeons and Dragons that will aide them throughout their lives. Becoming an Elder Dragon is hard work -- but its benefits pay off!
As our players develop an interest in running their own games, they may be invited to be a Game Master at one of our monthly one-off events. Games Masters-- otherwise known as Dungeon Masters, DMs, GMs, amongst other things-- are the players who oversee a role-playing game, in particular by narrating the details of the story that are not controlled by the other players. If they continue GMing at these events and show an aptitude for it, they may be invited to join our Elder Dragons. Elder Dragons are the ever talented Game Masters ages 14-18. It is a selective group, one where you can only be voted in by the other Elder Dragons at their monthly Tribunals.
Chief amongst the benefits is that being an Elder Dragon is a paid position. A core belief for Young Dragons is that everyone should always be fairly compensated for their work. This mentality is one of the traits we try to instill in the Elders. Beyond just financial benefits, they receive a myriad of other perks. These include GM training classes, life coaching from the Ancient Dragons, exclusive games, events, shows, and so much more.
